*If you are in New York City and want to see films like Soul Food Junkies, The Triptych, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty and Middle of Nowhere, Urbanworld Film Festival will be showing them during September 19th to the 23rd. Starting September 5th, you can purchase tickets for individual films ($15) or for the entire festival here.

*If you are on Tumblr, on Thursday September 13th, Mother Octavia tumblr will be beginning a WOC Speculative Fiction Book Club. The first book discussion will be about Octavia Butler’s vampire novel Fledgling.

*Philadelphia organization Griotworks is doing an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for Stories In Service: Day of Neighborhood Storytelling on September 22nd. The event will have storytellers traveling into several neighborhoods to share a variety of stories.
