*Tomorrow, singer Tess, who recently won Afropunk’s Battle of the Bands will be premiering her video for “MJ” tomorrow at her video release party in Harlem. For more info, click here.

*Saul Williams will begin his Chorus: A Spoken Word Tour on August 31, based on the book of the same name, which will be available September 4th. I will probably be going to the September 3rd performance at Joe’s Pub in New York City.

*On August 30th, Filmmaker Byron Hurt will be premiering Soul Food Junkies at Walter Reade Theater in Lincoln Center in New York City. There will be performances by Dead Prez and a Q&A session after, moderated by ImageNation founder Moikgantsi Kgama and including Hurt, poet and activist Sonia Sanchez; Dr. Aletha Maybank, and Dr. Marc Lamont Hill. *Yesterday, Chere Ann Turpin had guests poet Tzynya L. Pinchback and artist Bianca Dorsey on her show, At the Edge: An Afrofuturist Salon. Pinchback and Dorsey will also be part of an exhibition in Charleston, South Carolina, called Mermaids and Merwomen in Black Folklore. The exhibition will be from August 28 through October 28, 2012.
