Rx #11: Black Women’s Mental Health
A few days ago I watched this episode from The Grapevine about Black women and mental health in response to athletes like Simon Biles, Naomi Osaka, and Sha’carri Richardson and how the media treated them when they decide to put their health first. This is a conversation I feel a lot of people need to hear because it is so easy to disregard Black women’s health because we are stereotyped as strong. The panelists also mentioned a few resources, which I list below:
Open Path Collective: Open Path Psychotherapy Collective is a non-profit nationwide network of mental health professionals dedicated to providing in-office and online mental health care—at a steeply reduced rate—to individuals, couples, children, and families in need.
