Modern Griots: United Vibrations

The name of their album “Galaxies not Ghettoes,” is the rallying cry from the London-based group, United Vibrations. The phrase implies creating spaces of inclusion and not exclusion. Inspired by the likes of Fela Kuti, Bob Marley Sun Ra and the spiritual beliefs and mythologies of the world, the four members, Ahmad Dayes (Trombone & Vocals), Wayne Francis (Saxophone & Vocals), Yussef Dayes (Drums & Vocals), and Kareem Dayes (Bass & Vocals), want to people to unite in the diversity of sound. They call their sound a number of names from 12Tone to Cosmodelic Afro-Punk and even Mulatto music. All of their work is for creating a Zero Waste, Energy Plus, Carbon Negative social housing for urbanites. If that isn’t enough to pull you in, Shingai Shoniwa of The Noisettes said they were her new favorite band.
